Renovated Gandhi park inaugurated

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated the renovated Mahatma Gandhi Park at MG Avenue, Thangal Keithel today.
The park was renovated by the Bazar Development Committee (BDC) with support from Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykisan.
The Governor offered floral tributes at the statue of the Father of the Nation, paying homage to his enduring legacy of peace, truth, and non-violence.
He, however, departed without addressing the function.
Speaking at the event, Joykisan urged the people to reflect on Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of non-violence and work collectively towards establishing peace in the State.
Normalcy will return to Manipur when people from all communities reject violence and work together, he said.
Saying that normalcy has gradually returned to Manipur due to the different initiatives taken up by the Governor, the MLA appealed to everyone to embrace the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence.
He, meanwhile, noted that Thangmeiband Constituency is like a mini-India, with people from diverse communities and ethnicities living together.
Appealing to the people of his Constituency to coexist peacefully, the MLA pledged to support all goodwill initiatives by the Bazar Development Committee (BDC), acknowledging their efforts for the welfare of Manipur's people.
Saying that garbage in areas like Thangal Keithel, MG Avenue, and Major Khul had been cleaned four to five times under his supervision, following complaints from the Bazar community, he sought cooperation from everyone to make Imphal a clean city.
He especially appealed to the people of his Constituency to make Thangmeiband the cleanest Constituency and set an example for others.
Chairman of Sishu Nistha Niketan Lairenjam Suranjan Singh, BDC coordinator Yogesh Jain and retired Chief Engineer of PWD Yumnam Joykumar were also present in the inauguration programme.
