Cabinet decides to step up resettlement measures

A Cabinet meeting held this evening with Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand in the chair has decided to step up rehabilitation and resettlement measures.
The Cabinet meeting deliberated on the difficulties faced by IDPs at relief camps.
After threadbare discussion on the rehabilitation and resettlement process of IDPs and their welfare measures, the State Cabinet decided to distribute the special package and financial support sanctioned by the Central Government to the IDPs, and also to step up resettlement and rehabilitation measures.
The meeting also agreed to form teams of MLAs to look into the needs of IDPs and provide all possible as sistance to IDPs of both the hills and the valley.
The current law and order situation of the State was discussed at length during the meeting.
The State Cabinet further decided to hold Panchayat elections at the earliest in compliance with an order passed by the High Court of Manipur during the PR administration to hold Panchayat elections within six months.
IMC election is also not yet held.
The Cabinet meeting which started at around 5.30 pm was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Cabinet Ministers Govindas Konthoujam, Khuraijam Loken and Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel.
Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen too attended the Cabinet meeting albeit virtually.
