Imphal, July 05 2025:
Some cadres of the United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) have fled from their camp with weapons.
Notably, UPPK is currently under a ceasefire agreement and preparing to hold talks with the Government.
Speaking to media persons at his Khurai Thangjam Leikai, Chingangbam Leirak residence today, UPPK Chairman Konthoujam Homeshwar alias Chingkhei said that some cadres of the party ran away from a Yaithibi Loukon camp, Kakching district yesterday.

Apart from UPPK, cadres of four other insurgent groups have been staying at the camp.
Some cadres of UPPK led by General Secretary N Ahed alias Lemba, Home Secretary Roni, Finance Secretary Konthou, Defence Secretary Ingenjao, Deputy Finance Secretary Manikanta alias Khumanlakpa and Organisation Secretary Kabi Khuman ran away from the camp along with weapons.
"They did not seek permission from either the camp commander or myself before leaving the camp", said the UPPK Chairman.
A meeting of the party's Central Committee was convened yesterday but they did not come saying that they were being called by the Bishnupur SP.
However, Bishnupur district police, on being contacted, said they did not call the group, Homeshwar said.
He said that the UPPK was revived with an understanding to help restore peace and normalcy in Manipur in the aftermath of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 .
The members also agreed not to wage any form of war against the Central Government or the State Government, he said.
It was Lemba alias Ahed who came up with the idea of reviving UPPK.
Later the party's Central Committee was set up and included those who have deserted the party along with Lemba alias Ahed, Homeshwar continued.
However, the group led by Lemba alias Ahed started collecting money from the public and handling 'cases' before deserting the party, he said.
He then appealed to the public not to entertain monetary demands made by Lemba alias Ahed and his followers.
Instead of entertaining their demands, hand them over to police and other law enforcing agencies, the UPPK Chairman appealed to the public.
Notably, a splinter group from PREPAK formed UPPK on November 6, 2008 and they joined CorCom in 2011.UPPK signed an MoU with the Government of India and the Government of Manipur on May 24, 2013 but the UPPK issued a statement in April 2016 and declared that the party had been dissolved.
