As the BJP has all but secured huge election wins in two States and one Union Territory, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand along with MLAs, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, party leaders and workers have great joy and happiness during a celebratory event held at Thambal Shanglen in Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
The BJP wins in West Bengal and Assam will definitely impact the State Assembly elections next year and BJP will deliver a momentous victory, declared the Chief Minister.
At Thambal Shanglen today, the Chief Minister along with Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and MLAs Th Basanta Kumar, Dr Sapam Ranjan, Tongbram Robindro, Sapam Kunjakeswor, Paonam Brojen, Karam Shyam, Kh Ibomcha and Dinganglung Gangmei watched a live broadcast of election results for West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala and Puducherry.
The gathering celebrated the party's massive mandate in West Bengal toppling Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's (All India Trinamool Congress) 15 year rule and the return of BJP in the neighbouring State of Assam and Puducherry with sweets.
The Chief Minister thanked the people of West Bengal for delivering a historic win for the BJP.
Responding to a query from the press about the Assam election results, he said even the State Congress chief Gaurav Gogoi lost in Jorhat to a BJP candidate.
Prior to the election, rumours were doing the rounds claiming that Congress will achieve a decisive win in Assam and BJP will lose.
Saying that the people of Assam have ensured the return of the BJP Government, he extended his gratitude to the public.
The election results as seen in West Bengal and Assam will be repeated in Manipur next year.
The BJP Government will be back in power here.
But the magnitude of the party's victory remains to be seen, he told media persons.
Responding to another query about steps taken by the Government to address the demand to update the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the Chief Minister said authorities are striving to form a committee in this regard.
Though the Manipur Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to implement NRC in the State, no steps were taken to enforce it.
NRC cannot be done in haste, the process has to be minutely studied and discussed.
The Government also endorses NRC implementation in Manipur.
The administration is deeply engaged in ensuring that there will be no gaps in its implementation, added the Chief Minister.
Expressing joy at the BJP's win in two States and one UT today, A Sharda Devi said Indian people's faith in the BJP continues to grow.
