Memorial day for Linthoingambi lined up on Jul 6

A memorial event will be held on July 6 in remembrance of Luwangbi Linthoingambi Hijam, the 17-year old who went missing on July 6,2023 during the early days of the Manipur conflict.
Her father, Hijam Kulajit, has urged the public and CSOs to attend the ceremony.
Linthoingambi went missing along with Phijam Hemanjit on the fateful day.
Speaking to media-persons at his residence located at Sagolband Tera Tongbram Leikai, Hijam Kulajit said that the Government has failed to produce any concrete evidence or trace the whereabouts ofhis daughter who has been missing since the morning of July 6, 2023.Due to this, they have been unable to perform her final rites.
As July 6, 2025 will mark two years since she disappeared, the first memorial event in Linthoingambi's memory will be held, said Hijam Kulajit.
During the event, a public meeting will be held from 10 am to 11 am to discuss the future course of action concerning her case.
He further informed that in order to get justice, they are ready to take Linthoingambi's case to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
