Senapati, October 31 2025:
The Naga People's Organisation (NPO), Senapati, has expressed strong concern and condemnation over suspected Kuki miscreants shouting provocative statements on the day the Nagas observed "Genna" (a suspension of daily activities) in honour of the civic reception for Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser of the GPRN, in Senapati.
In a statement issued by its president Kuba Peter and general secretary M John Thangal, the NPO said that on October 29 and 30, 2025, certain individuals were seen driving vehicles at excessive speed, repeatedly moving up and down at Daili Village while shouting provocative slogans such as "We demand Kukiland" and "We want Kukiland" .
The NPO said that the miscreants also damaged Th Muivah's poster in the village not once but twice.
The miscreants also detonated a large firecracker, causing panic among villagers and severe mental distress, especially to the elderly and young children, it added.
Such acts are not only irresponsible and irrational but also amount to deliberate provocation and a direct affront to the sentiments of the Naga people, the NPO said and maintained that it views these actions as a calculated attempt to insult and dishonour 'our living legendary leader' and to disturb the peaceful coexistence of communities in the area.
Saying that they will no longer tolerate such incidents under any circumstances, the NPO demanded that the responsible leaders of the community concerned immediately identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the provocative activities and produce them at the NPO office within three days.
The NPO will be compelled to initiate appropriate measures to safeguard the dignity and safety of the Naga people even if it risks straining to communal harmony if their ultimatum is not heeded, it cautioned.
