Imphal, March 28 2020:
While welcoming the announcement made by the State Government to provide 20 kgs of rice to every household, ANSAM, DESAM and AIMS have lamented the failure to ensure proper distribution of the much needed food items due to alleged political sectarianism of concerned local MLAs.
Furthermore, the associations cautioned that if the intended food grains are not made available to the people in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, then they will be forced to divulge the details of the MLAs/officials concerned who are robbing the people of their food.
A joint statement issued by the three associations today claimed that due to the distribution of rice grains to the people based only on the criteria of their voters' list, many have been left out.
Due to this flawed process of distribution, many people, officials, students etc who are from remote parts of the State like hills, and who are now staying in rents, have not been able to get any food grains, it stated, appealing to the Chief Minister to include other criteria like Aadhaar card, voter cards and student ID cards while providing rice grains.
On the other hand, it informed that looking after the grievances faced by the students staying in rented houses amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, AIMS, DESAM and ANSAM have opened a joint grievance cell which can be contacted at 897410045, 7005606920 and 8729955052 .
Anyone can relay their grievances to this cell and the student associations will ensure that their grievances are addressed by the authorities concerned, it concluded.
