Imphal, January 23 2015 :
Truck owners and drivers, who transport FCI rice from Dimapur to Imphal, are facing lots of inconveniences after the General Manager of FCI Dimapur have asked them to encash their bills only in Dimapur.
The truck owners and drivers used to encash these bills at Imphal earlier.
According to the transporters, they ship in rice from Dimapur FCI godown under WI Enterprises at Rs 54,000 per truck load.
FCI earlier permitted them to encash bills up to Rs 50 lakh in Imphal, they said and alleged that the FCI General Manager in Dimapur has cancelled this permission and asked the transporters to encash their bills only in Dimapur from 2015 in connivance with a second party.
The General Manager has not released around Rs 20 crore for the transport contractors of the State till date, they added.
As there is a mad rush in the encashment of transportation charges for the transporters of Nagaland, the transporters of the State are unable to encash their bills on time, they said.
The transporters further said that WI Enterprises have told them that they are unable to clear the due transportation charges to the transporters of the State as their bills are still pending since October last year.
It is a big conspiracy on the part of the FCI Dimapur General Manager to ask the transporters to encash the bills in Dimapur although the State has the cheque power of up to Rs 50 lakh, the transporters said.
They said that they would submit written complaints to the Prime Minister and the Executive Director of FCI Guwahati if the due bills of the State transport contractors are not released at the earliest.
