Imphal, November 21 2016:
BJP MLA Kh Joykishan has lambasted the State Government for its complete indifference to the extreme misery being endured by all sections of people due to the indefinite economic blockade being imposed by the UNC on National Highways which is now 21 days old.
Speaking to media persons today, Joykishan said that people would suffer more and more until and unless the incumbent Government changes its tendency to deal with key issues in the most casual attitude.
The State Government is not keen enough to escort back the trucks stranded on National Highways beyond the State.
If the State Government is genuinely concerned about the plight of the public, it should have acted in a pro-active manner and sent more security forces to escort back the stranded vehicles.
If the Government is sincerely worried for the masses, it ought to convene an all political parties meeting, Joykishan stated.
BJP Manipur Pradesh is always prepared to extend all possible assistance to the State Government towards ameliorating people's plight.
He then expressed keen desire for the State Government to take up necessary steps so as to obtain Central assistance for securing the National Highways connected to Manipur.
Assurances given by the State Government without giving any second thought are the root causes of the present crises and it also sowed seeds of distrust among different communities, Joykishan decried.
He also expressed strong reservation against Chief Minister O Ibobi's casual treatment of bandhs and blockades on the ground that they are too frequent in the State.
