During the meeting, the Church leaders related the miseries endured by people in the valley due to the economic blockade and appealed to the UNC leaders to lift the economic blockade.
UNC and Naga Mothers' Association in the meeting had said that the economic blockade is not targeted against any particular section of the society or community but the State Government.
Even so, the UNC should lift the economic blockade keeping in view the hardships it has caused the people, the Church leaders stated.
On the other hand, the United Committee Manipur's (UCM) has set December 7 as the deadline for the UNC to lift the economic blockade.
Fearing that unwanted incidents could occur, the Church leaders, in the press meet today urged the UCM to withdraw their ultimatum and the UNC to lift the blockade in the larger interest of the people.
Urging for a dialogue, the Church leaders said the indefinite economic blockade has all the potential to jeopardise the bond of fraternity shared by the people of Manipur.
