Court jails man held in POCSO case

Imphal, August 06 2025:
The court of Special Judge POCSO, Imphal West on Wednesday remanded one Thoungamba Keisham (22), accused of showing inappropriate photos to a 12-year-old girl student, to judicial custody for 15 days under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
On Wednesday, a team of Imphal police station team produced Thoungamba before the court with a prayer for judicial remand.
As per the submission by IO of the case, on August 2 around 2.30 pm, the girl's father filed a report at the Imphal PS informing that around 8.35 am, a man, described as being around 25-28 years old, came in a white car and stopped his daughter who was on her way to school.
The man pretended to ask some questions before showing his daughter indecent photos on his phone.
The father stated that the incident had left his daughter mentally traumatised.
Based on the report, Imphal PS registered an FIR and launched investigation, including examination of footages captured in CCTV cameras installed nearby the incident spot consequently able to identify owner of the car.
After verifying owner of the car, the police narrowed down on identity of the accused as Thoungamba Keisham, s/o Gopen Mojesh of Wangkhei Mayum Leira Machin, presently residing at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Lane no 15.Thoungamba was arrested and produced before the court which then remanded him to police custody till Wednesday.
The IO made a prayer'to remand the accused to judicial custody for further questioning, which the court accepted and sent Thoungamba to 15 -days in judicial custody.
