Kakching, July 05 2025: As part of the 76th Van Mahotsav celebration 2025, a large-scale tree plantation drive was carried out, on Friday in four villages of Chandel district - Purumchumbang, Ziontlang, Lungkhu, and Lirungtabi.

The campaign, organised by the Chandel Forest Division, included the planting of around 1500 saplings, including fruit-bearing, flowering and ornamental tree species.

Speaking at the event, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Dr Naorem Munal Meitei informed that out of 26 selected plantation sites in the district under the Van Mahotsav celebration, tree plantation has been completed in 14 sites.

So far, approximately 32,000 saplings have been planted across these locations.
