Kangpokpi, July 03 2025:
Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) has announced an immediate and total ban on all activities and programmes undertaken by the Forest Department within Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi district.
SAHILCA categorically stated that the Forest Department must halt all operations in the district with immediate effect, underscoring its strong opposition to any initiatives or activities being carried out by the state government.
The chiefs' association further declared a complete ban on all programmes and activities pursued by the state government in Kuki-Zo inhabited areas of Kangpokpi district until the current conflict is amicably resolved.
Additionally, SAHILCA directed the deputy commissioner (DC) and sub-divisional officers (SDOs) to refrain from implementing the state government's flagship outreach initiatives, including 'Go to Hills' and 'Go to Villages', in all Kuki-Zo areas of the district.
According to SAHILCA, the continuation of government activities during this period of violence and heightened mistrust would be 'insensitive and provocative'.
SAHILCA further urged all government departments and officials to respect the directive in order to avoid further deterioration of law and order in the district.
