TYCM presses for appointing MSCST chairperson

Imphal, July 31 2025: Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters on Wednesday submitted a representation to the chief secretary and additional chief secretary (ACS), Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, urging for the immediate issuance of a notification inviting applications from eligible tribal candidates of Manipur for the appointment/nomination of the chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST).

As per a release by TYCM, the three-year tenure of the MSCST chairperson has ended and without a chairperson, the Commission is unable to function properly and deliver its services to the tribal communities of Manipur.

MSCST is a very important institution for the tribal communities of Manipur, tasked with monitoring and formulating policy matters related to the safeguards, rights, and interests of the Scheduled Tribes (STs) enshrined in the Constitution, various laws, and government orders, it further asserted.
