SHRI holds first-aid training prog

Imphal, May 27 2025:
Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), in collaboration with a Pangei-based institute, conducted a one-day "Hands-on First Aid and Emergency Training Programme" on Tuesday to commemorate World Emergency Medicine Day.
Organised by SHRI Department of Emergency Medicine, the programme aligned with the global theme "Proud to Provide Your Emergency Care", recognising the critical role of emergency care professionals.
It aims to equip police personnel with essential life-saving skills for effective responses in critical situations, said a release.

Led by Dr Sweta Khuraijam, consultant emergency physician, the session comprised theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations.
Approximately 100 security personnel participates in the training which covered essential emergency response procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, fracture management, burn care, and initial trauma response.
"This collaborative initiative reflects a shared commitment to enhancing emergency preparedness and strengthening police personnel's capacity as frontline responders," added the release.
