Seven UGs netted; arms, explosives recovered

Imphal, July 22 2025:
Joint security forces arrested seven cadres belonging to the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) in separate operations conducted on July 21 while in coordinated operations, cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and other items were recovered from Kangpokpi district.
According to a statement issued by the Manipur Police Control Room, three cadres of the KCP identified as Khumanthem Umakanta Singh alias Chinglai (36) of Mong-bung, Jiribam; Pukhrambam Naoton Singh alias Tomthin (22) of Ningthoukhong Mayai Leikai Ward No 9; and Soibam Bargil Meitei alias Phirefpa (23) of Irom Meijrao, Imphal West, were apprehended from the Indo-Myanmar border near Border Pillar 79 at Pangal Basti under Moreh PS in Tengnoupal district.

In another intelligence-based operation, four cadres of UPPK were arrested from Koirengei Chingol Leikai area under Heingang PS in Imphal East district.
Those arrestees have been identified as Nishan Ngangbam alias Tamngakpa (24) of Khumbong Mayai Leikai; Laishangbam Roshan Singh alias Yaibi (35) of Churachandpur Khuga Tampak Meitei Leikai, presently residing at Langol Game Village Zone-1; Chungkham Kiran Meitei alias Lepsinba (21) of Khumbong Mayai Leikai; and Chandam Ratan Meitei alias Lion (41) of Koirengei Bazar.
Items recovered from their possession include a Hyundai Getz car (AS03G 4722), Rs 9,230 in cash, a Nepalese currency note of Rs 10, five mobile phones, five SIM cards, four Aadhaar cards and one PAN card.
Meanwhile, in two separate operations in Kangpokpi district the same day, security forces recovered a huge cache of weapons and warlike stores from the general area of Ting-kai Khullen village under New Keithelmanbi PS and from the general area of Maohing and Changoubung villages under Kangpokpi PS.
The arms recovered include one each INSAS rifle with magazine, .303 rifle with telescopic sight and magazine, locally made lathode, M16 rifle, MA1 assault rifle, sniper rifle, .32 bore pistol and .32 pistol with magazine, four local made bolt action rifles, two canon pumpis, seven single barrel rifles, four bolt action rifles, six pull mechanism rifles, two improvised mortars and four tube launchers.
Ammunition recovered includes 50 rounds of .303 calibre, two lathode shells, 10 rounds of 12 mm bolt action rifle, two pumpi shells, one 84mm RL HE, 61 cases of 7.62 mm AK, seven cases of single barrel and 23 cases of 7.62 mm SLR.
Explosives recovered include four hand grenades.
Besides, two Baofeng wireless sets, two BP plates, two hand-held radio sets, two No 36 hand grenade arming rings, four No 36 hand grenade detonators, one sniper rifle magazine and one .32 bore pistol magazine were also recovered.
