Assam Rifles stepped in to repair irrigation canal in Kangmong and Janglen-phai villages, which had been damaged by flash floods from Cyclone Remal.
The canal, vital for irrigating paddy fields in Kangmong and Janglenphai, posed significant challenges for localfarmers during their harvesting season.
Informing this in a statement; PRO IGAR (S) said that prompted by requests from village authorities and the local MLA, Assam Rifles mobilised resources including JCBs and sandbags to undertake repair work on Thursday.
The repair efforts focused on clearing debris and strategically placing sandbags to restore the water flow to its normal capacity.
This initiative not only alleviated the difficulties faced by farmers but also underscored Assam Rifles' commitment to improving livelihoods and ensuring community welfare.
The timely completion of the repairs minimised disruptions to agricultural activities, providing crucial support to farmers during their seasonal cultivation efforts, the statement added.
