Pineapple Queen Contest at national level: MLA

Informing that the Pineapple Festival organised by Development Organisation Andro Kendra (DOAK) would resume this year, Andro MLA Thounaojam Shyamkumar has informed that the Pineapple Queen Contest this year would be held at the national level.
In a press meet held by DOAK at Andro on Sunday, the MLA said that the Pineapple Festival-cum-Buyer and Seller Meet had been held every year to encourage pineapple farmers and promote the pineapple products of the state to the world.
After being suspended for some years due to the pandemic and later, the conflict, decision has been taken to hold the festival this year as the situation in the state is showing signs of improvement.
He continued that the 16th edition of Pineapple Festival this year would be held for five days from June 27 .
In addition, after thoroughly examining the guidelines for organising a beauty pageant at the all-India level, the Pineapple Queen contest for this year Would be held at the national level, at a suitable location in Imphal.
Thus, he urged the state government departments and the people to extend their support in making the festival a success.
Shyamkumar also informed that Thambal Higher Secondary School student Rina Chakpram, who secured 17th position in the Class XII (science) examination this year would be felicitated on the first day of the festival and presented with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh by the DOAK and the Shyamkumar Charitable Trust.
