Governor launches cashless payment system for transport services

Imphal, July 17 2025: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Thursday launched the cashless payment system for transport services, and the implementation of electronic Driving Licences (eDL) and electronic Registration Certificates (eRC) at Raj Bhavan, here.

According to a Raj Bhavan release, this transformative initiative under the Transport Department aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for the citizens of Manipur.

During the event, the Governor lauded the initiatives of the Transport Department and emphasised the importance of leveraging technology to deliver good governance and citizen empowerment.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport secretary informed that out of the total services available in the national web portal of Pari-vahan Sewa, 32 services are made available in the state and more services will be provided shortly.

The event was also attended by Transport director, SIO, NIC team, RO SBI and other stakeholders.

With the adoption of digital payment modes, all fees and charges related to transport services can now be paid through Point of Sale (POS) terminals and other online payment systems with effect from July 18, ensuring a seamless, secure, and contactless experience.

The POS machines will accept debit/ credit cards, UPI, and other digital payment methods.

eDL and eRC shall be introduced officially throughout the state with effect from August 1.The introduction of eDL and eRC will eliminate the need for physical documents as citizens can now carry their driving licences and vehicle registration certificates in electronic form via DigiLocker and mParivahan mobile applications.
