Army commemorates World Youth Skills Day-2025

The Indian Army observed World Youth Skills Day-2025, with a series of events, aimed at empowering students and youth through digital literacy, motivational mentorship and access to educational opportunities.
Aligning with the United Nations' theme 'Youth Empowerment through AI and Digital Skills', the events were designed to inspire young minds to embrace technological advancement and prepare for an increasingly competitive global landscape, said a PRO Defence release.
At Sardar Patel High School, Khurkhul, Imphal West, Indian Army organised a Digital Skills Awareness Programme to introduce students to the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
An Army officer addressed the session, highlighting the relevance of AI in modern life and its role in national progress.
Key government programmes such as Digital India, AI for Youth, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and the Atal Innovation Mission were discussed, offering over 100 students and teachers insight into the vast landscape of opportunities in the digital domain.
A motivational session was also conducted for students of Class XI and XII at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, with a focus on encouraging participation in competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE.
Students were introduced to the Red Shield Centre of Wellness and Excellence in Bishnupur - an initiative by the Indian Army in partnership with the SBI Foundation and National Integrity and Educational Development Organisation (NEIDO).
Central to this effort is the Super 50 Programme, which offers free, high-quality coaching to meritorious students from financially constrained backgrounds.
Meanwhile, Indian Army hosted a community outreach event for students and youth at Leimakhong Garrison under the theme 'Empowering Youth, Enabling Progress', focusing on awareness-building, motivational engagement and skill-based career guidance.
During the event, motivational talks and expert-led sessions underlined the value of self-reliance through skill development.
Participants were guided on accessing national schemes such as the Skill India Mission, PMKVY and programmes offered by the National Skill Development Corporation, equipping them with actionable knowledge on securing vocational training and employment pathways in alignment with industry needs, informed the PRO .
