Sit-in demands disturbance-free education zone

Bishnupur, July 13 2025:
A sit-in protest was staged by students and faculty members of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou, at the institute on Saturday, demanding disturbance-free education zone, and halt to excessive monetary demands.
Interacting with the media during the protest, director RK Imotomba Singh expressed grave concern that the institute is on the verge of closure due to unreasonable monetary demands.
Terming extortion demands served to the institute as unwarranted and deplorable especially as academic activities were affected due to unrest situation in the state, he also disclosedihat the institute's branch at Kameng Khunjao, which had been offering course in horticulture and forestry, had to suspend operation due to monetary demands, forcing the students to continue the course at Utlou.
Further disclosing that he has been receiving threat calls from unknown persons both in the institute and at home, the principal made a fervent appeal to all concerned to ensure proper functioning of institute, which is a UGC-recognised higher education institute.
