National Anti-Ragging week begins

DM University (DMU) and its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) jointly organised National Anti-Ragging week at DM College of Arts multipurpose hall on Tuesday.
The inaugural programme was attended DMU vice chancellor Prof W Chandbabu, registrar Dr Rk Joteen, Students' Welfare dean Prof Th Rabikanta and District Legal Service Authority, Imphal East panel advocate B Supriya among others.
Speaking at the programme, Prof Chandbabu instructed hostel wardens and authorities to remain vigilant and ensure that the institute remains free from ragging.
He also underlined the importance of the students' uniop in maintaining a university free from ragging.
Pointing out that students need to be aware of the punishment given against those involved in ragging and the impacts of ragging on the victims, he reminded several incidents of ragging where even students committed suicide.
Several anti-ragging awareness programmes will be conducted in the varsity during the week-long National Anti-Ragging week.
Meanwhile, along with 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur organised awareness programme on anti-ragging at its campus.
The programme was attended by NIT Manipur director Prof So-mayajulu, registrar Prof Kh Tomba, faculty member, non-teaching staff and students.
The national flag was hoisted and distributed during the programme.
