International day of elderly persons observed

Imphal, August 11 2025:
The International Day of Elderly Persons, organised by AAM Ukhongsang under the National Programme for Health Care of Elderly, was observed at Ayushman Arogya Mandir, Ukhongshang, on Monday.
The observance function was attended by Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh, Nongpok Sekmai PHC medical officer in-charge Dr Y Jotin Singh and NP-NCD district nodal officer Dr M Bikramjit Singh as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
AAM, Ukhongshang community health officer Rom abati delivered the welcome and keynote address and spoke on the observance theme "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide" .
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Dr Y Nokul Singh remarked that while ageing is inevitable, one must strive to stay free from diseases so that they can enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life in old age.
"This requires eating nutritious food, practising regular exercise or yoga, and undergoing periodic health check-ups," he said.
As part of the programme, gifts were presented to 15 elderly persons.
