Moirang remembers Nilamani, fetes students

The 113th birth anniversary of freedom fighter and former Moirang MLA Hemam Nilamani Singh along with distribution of meritorious award was held at INA Memorial Hall, Moirang on Thursday.
Nilamani was also deputy education minister.
The programme organised by Hemam Nilamani Foundation (a charitable trust), Moirang was attended by Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh as chief guest, while former MLAs P Saratchandra Singh and M Prithviraj Singh, were functional president and guest of honour respectively.
As part of the programme, Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School students Longjam Christina Devi, who excelled in the HSLC exam conducted by BSEM, along with Christina Khundrakpam (science stream) and Hemam Malemnganbi Devi (arts stream), who secured top marks in the HSE conducted by COHSEM, were honoured with presentation of mementos, certificates and cash prizes.
Three meritorious students of private schools in Moirang area were also felicitated on the occasion.
They are Binita Yambem of New Model Public School (HSLC exam), and St Xavier School's Cathrin Laisom (HSE science stream) and Oinam Bembem Devi (arts stream) .
