Bishnupur, May 10 2025: A one-day training & orientation on 'Drugs & Substance Abuse' was organised by Bishnupur district administration, District Social Welfare Office, Bishnupur and Social Upliftment Association at Oinam Government Higher Secondary School, under Na-sha Mukt Bharat Campaign, on Saturday.

The programme was attended by "Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) chairperson Keisham Pradipkumar, Oinam Government Higher Secondary School principal S Indira Devi and Bishnupur District Social Welfare officer Waikhom Thamabati Devi as chief guest, president and guest of honour, respectively.

Training, orientation on drug abuse held

Speaking on the occasion, MCPCR chairperson K Pradipkumar attributed the prevalent drug and alcohol abuse in the state to its proximity to the 'Golden Triangle' region.

Asserting that drug abusers are not criminals but are ones who have gone astray, he described drug and substance abuse as a disease which is treatable.

He called for proper counselling to drug abusers to help overcome their addiction.

During the training which was attended by students and teachers of the Oinam Government Higher Secondary School, Share And Care, Wangkhei founder professor RK Lenin spoke on 'Adolescent Mental Health' and State Level Co-Ordinating Agency, Manipur director Dr A Jayanta on 'Prevention And Treatment of Adolescent/Student With Substance Abuse' as resource persons, along with interacting with the students.
