Imphal, May 25 2023:
People of Thang-meiband assembly con-stituency under the aegis of different organisations including Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) organised a joint meeting on Thursday and resolved to support the May 30 peace rally called by Nagas and Meitei Pangals.
The public meeting was held in Ima Khunthokhanbi Shanglen, Thangmeiband on Thursday.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, TUC president Pratap Leishangth-em strongly condemned the armed attacks carried out by armed Kuki militants on Meetei villages in the foothill areas and said that TUC will extend all possible help to the displaced people.
The meeting also resolved to ex-tend full support to the May 30 rally organised by Nagas and Melia Pangals.
It also demanded the Central gov-ernment to declare its stand on the unity and territorial integrity of the state failing which the people of the state could take extreme steps.
The meeting also decried the lack of commitment on the part of the remaining 50 MLAs when 10 MLAs raised separate administration de-mand, and asked the MLAs to declare their resolute stand in this regard, he said.
He also said that mem-bers of TUC's Women's Wing went to meet local MLA Khumukcham Joykisan to make him declare his stand.
However, the MLA was not available and they submitted a memorandum to his family members, he said.
Pratap also said that MLA Joykisan is a public representative and TUC will ensure that the MLA takes his decision as per the wishes and aspirations of the public.
He, however, said that the memorandum sought the MLA's stand on the issue within five days failing which the public will organise series of intense agitation.
