Vehicle lifter held; ₹1.28 lakh fines collected

Imphal, June 29 2025:
Police arrested a suspected vehicle lifter and intensified their ongoing traffic enforcement drive across the state resulting in collection of Rs 1.28 lakh fine on Saturday, according to a statement issued by the Police Control Room on Saturday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Syed Riyaj Khan alias Jame (28) of Lilong Chaobok, Thoubal district.
He was arrested from his residence under Lilong police station.
During the operation, police recovered a blue Honda Activa scooter without registration plate, along with a key and an Aadhaar card from his possession.
Authorities suspect the scooter to be a stolen vehicle and have initiated further investigation.
Meanwhile, as part of its intensified traffic regulation measures, police issued a total of 77 challans to motor vehicle rule offenders on Saturday, collecting fines amounting to Rs 1,28,000.The enforcement was conducted under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act to address violations ranging from lack of proper documentation to unsafe modifications.
In a related drive conducted on Friday, police removed tinted films from 21 vehicles across different parts of the state.
