RIMS organises third tree plantation drive

Imphal, July 28 2025:
In continuation of Van Mahotsav-2025 celebrations, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, organised the third tree plantation programme on Sunday under the theme 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.01' .
A release issued RIMS Media Cell informed that the plantation drive was carried out at the designated site extending from the southern end of the dissection hall, Department of Anatomy, to the eastern side of the mini auditorium within RIMS campus.
Addressing the participants, RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma emphasised that Van Mahotsav serves as a reminder for collective responsibility toward environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
He stated that RIMS must lead by example, not only in healthcare but also in fostering a healthier environment, while reiterating the importance of nurturing the planted trees to ensure their long-term survival and ecological impact.
The programme also had participation of RIMS Hospital medical superintendent, deputy director (Admn), dean (academics), nodal officer, RIMS SAP/ Kaya, heads of departments, staff, students and members of CRED & MSS .
A wide variety of indigenous and shade-bearing tree saplings were planted to enhance the green cover and contribute to ecological preservation.
The successful observance of Van Mahotsav, 2025 at RIMS underscores the institute's proactive role in promoting environmental consciousness and civic responsibility among its community members, the release added.
