Activist to resume environmental campaign in June

Imphal, May 28 2025: Environmental activist Manikanta Mutum has announced resumption of his Environmental Awareness Campaign themed "Upal Thasi, Upal Hinghansi" from June Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday, Manikanta expressed keen desire to go beyond merely raising awareness about the theme but also initiating and participating in tree plantation drives.

Stating that his campaign will re-commence from June 2, the environmental activist recounted that he been periodically carrying out the campaign for over eight years both inside and outside Manipur and spent enormous time and efforts to initiate and lead campaigns aimed at safeguarding the environment for the future generations.

Manikanta also confided about plans to travel on foot across the state, conduct tree plantation drives and simultaneously raise awareness on the theme.

"My goal from this campaign is not quantity but quality; I do not want numerous trees to be planted through this drive just for it to be later neglected.

True success will be measured not by the number of trees planted, but by how well the planted seeds, even if it's only a few, are nurtured and sustained over time," he affirmed.
