Imphal, December 18 2024: The blockade of the Imphal-Pangei Road enforced by Imphal-Pangei Road Joint Development Committee since Tuesday continues to cause disruptions to vehicular movement.

The road block is in protest against the government's alleged indifferent attitude to demand for repairing the road stretch, which is in a dilapidated condition.

On Wednesday, protestors barricaded the road using logs and bamboo fences, preventing movement of both vehicles and pedestrians.

In a statement, Joint Development Committee informed that decision to block the road was made during a meeting on December 8 .

The committee condemned the state government's inaction in ad dressing the road's deteriorating condition and called for immediate repairs.

The committee also ap pealed to local groups, including clubs, meira paibi associations, transport associations, school authorities and the public, to support the ongoing protest.
