Kyamgei bodies condemn car arson

Imphal, May 10 2025: All Kiyamgei Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup (AKNCTL) and Peace & Integrity Committee Kiyamgei (PICK) have strongly condemned the arson attack on a car parked in front of a residence in Kyamgei Lairam Wangma by unknown miscreants on Saturday.

At around 11.30 am, former AGM of Imphal Urban Co-operative Bank, Longjam Suranjoy was visiting someone at Kyamgei Lairam Wangma and had parked his car, a Datson Go (Reg No 8434) outside the residence during which unknown miscreants set fire to the car, causing extensive damages.

The burnt vehicle was subsequently recovered by the police.

Condemning the arson attack, AKNCTL and PICK staged a sit-in protest at the community hall of Kiyamgei Youth Pioneer Club.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, AKNCTL president Moirangthem Sobita conveyed that some unidentified persons who came in a white colour Hyundai i20 poured oil on the vehicle and set it on fire.

The fire caught the attention of the nearby residents who helped extinguish the fire.

However, the identity of the arsonists could not be established in the chaos.

Sobita urged the authority concerned to identify the those responsible and take strict action to prevent such acts in the future.
