Imphal, May 03 2023:
Questioning the rationale behind raising inappropriate slogan against chief minister N Biren during the rally organised by ATSUM in hill areas on Wednesday, the Coordinating Body, Khurai has said that such acts will permanently tarnish the image of ATSUM and its federating units.
According to a statement of Coordinating Body, Khurai, ATSUM called the rally in protest against the court's ruling directing the government of Manipur to send recommendation for inclusion of Meetei/ Meitei in ST list of Indian Constitution to the Centre within two months.
However, the rally in Churachandpur turned out to be against the govern-ment's decision and action to stop poppy cultivation, deforestation, illegal drug manufacturing and identification and deportation of Myanmarese immigrants.
Apart from raising inappropriate slogans against the CM, the rallyists in Churachandpur also incited violence by torching several houses and religious sites belonging to a community, the Coordinating Body said and asked ATSUM to declare publicly the reasons for committing such anti-social and illegal acts during the rally.
The body also reminded all concerned to introspect why a similar slogan was raised over two totally indifferent issues.
