DDMA issues public advisory on river banks

Senapati, June 25 2025:
In view of the incessant rainfall and subsequent increasing level of the rivers and the hill streams in the district and also the recent incident of drowning case in the Barak river, Senapati deputy commissioner/District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) chairperson Mamoni Doley issued advisory to the public to exercise extreme caution and stay alert for all possible breaches of the river banks and overflow of water to surrounding areas.
The chairperson also advised the public to follow precautionary measures to protect life and property including, avoid driving or walking through flowing water; not swim or cross a flooded river or stream or any flowing water body; stay away from floodwaters as they may be contaminated with sewage, chemicals or other hazards; not touch or go near any submerged transformers, inverters or electrical post or wires; stay informed through local news and emergency responders; follow instructions from local authorities and emergency responders; follow evacuation orders from authorities; postpone outdoor activities including farming and fishing until situation improves; avoid unnecessary travel to inundated areas; switch off electrical appliances if water enters the home; children and elderly stay in safe locations; and, public be vigilant and inform any government authorities for immediate intervention in case of any emergency.
DDMA also provided the District Helpline Number-+917628992200 in case of any emergency.
