Refurbished "Ningshing Pung"of Wabagai Hr Sec School unveiled

Kakching, February 22 2025: The "Ningshing Pung," which bears the names of the seven founding members of Wabagai Higher Secondary School, ohe of the oldest schools in the state, has been fully refurbished and handed over to the school authorities by Wabagai Higher Secondary School 1976 Matric Batch Alumni on Friday.

The "Ningshing Pung" was formally unveiled by Kshetrimayum Mangai of Kakching Turel Wangma Ningthou Pareng, a 98-year-old who had taught the students of the 1976 Matric Batch Alumni.

The unveiling ceremony, jointly organised by Wabagai Higher Secondary School and the 1976 Matric Batch Alumni, was attended by alumni member Moirangthem Joy, principal-in-charge Mayengbam Bhorot, students and teachers of the school, family members of the founding members, former teachers, and alumni members.

Speaking at the event, alumni member Urikhinbam Kunjo informed that Wabagai Higher Secondary School, established in 1935; is one of the six oldest schools in the state.

He shared that the "Ningshing Pung" was originally unveiled in 1979 by the then Law minister Yumnam Yaima and the then school committee-chairman, and MLA of then Hiyanglam-Sugnu assembly constituency, Elangbam Nodi Singh.

Over time, the "Ningshing Pung" had deteriorated, but the 1976 Alumni took the initiative to refurbish it .
