KVK conducts training on usage of pineapple leaf

Thoubal, August 20 2025: A 10-day skill development training programme on 'Extraction, Processing, Value Addition and Product Development from Pineapple Leaf Fibre' organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal began at KVK, Thoubal training hall on Wednesday.

The opening function of the training programme, which is being participated by farmers from various farmer production companies (FPOs) under KVK, Thoubal, was attended by MSME Technology Centre, Imphal deputy director Dr Sinam Yoirentomba Meitei, Thoubal district agriculture officer Th Jayprakash and KVK, Thoubal Home Science Department subject matter specialist (SMS) RK Lembisana as presidium members.

The technical session featured a lecture on 'Entrepreneurship and Schemes of MSME' by Dr Sinam Yoirentomba.

Delivering the key note address, RK Lembisana stated that pineapple leaves, generally discarded as waste, can now be converted into fibres using NINFET SATHI retting accelerator machine.

She also informed that KVK, Thoubal has been organising training programme for farmers on use of the retting accelerator machine.
