Child protection awareness camp organised

Imphal, July 17 2025:
A one-day awareness programme on child protection and related laws was held at Khunyai village community hall under Machi Block, Tengnoupal district.
The programme was organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Tengnoupal in collaboration with NUSMUCOS Ltd, Pallel Cluster.
Machi SDO Md Nuzmul Huda Khan, and Tengnoupal SDC Arif Sajad attended the programme as chief guest, and guest of honour respectively.
Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Tengnoupal member secretary Darngam Khaling, Tengnoupal police station 2nd OC Khulak Tonthang Dangshawa, and CWC member Tontang Moishel delivered the technical sessions covering key aspects of child protection laws and highlighted the need for stronger community involvement in safeguarding children's rights.
Although District Child Protection Officer Devavrata Sharma could not attend the event in person, his message was read out during the programme.
He emphasised that child protection is a shared responsibility and not the duty of a single department alone.
He urged collective action from all sections of society to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
The event witnessed active participation from local youth, community members and village leaders, and concluded with an open discussion focused on strengthening child protection mechanisms in the district.
