Kakching, May 17 2025:
Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) caretaker, councillors and staffers staged protest near the office on Friday to oppose the transfer of KMC senior chief executive officer, Laishram Romesh.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, KMC W/N 4 caretaker councillor Pukhrambam Sanahal Devi pointed out that the Council has been working diligently to achieve the goal of transforming Kakching to a smart city.
Amid such concerted endeavours, the transfer of Laishram Romesh, who has been actively contributing to its progress, is both illogical and unjustified, she contended.
Even though it is a policy matter of the government authorities concerned should revoke the transfer order in public interest and ongoing development initiatives taken up by the council, Sanahal demanded.
She pointed out that activities initiated by the council include Master Plan Formation, Property Profile Registration and Tax, Smart Solid Waste Management Mobile Apps, Housing for All and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation.
Expressing resentment over transfer of senior CEO amid hectic activities being taken up by the KMC, she suggested that the order be kept in abeyance till completion of the on-going development works.
