Kakching, May 16 2025:
In a significant leap towards a sustainable waste management system, the Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) officially launched a mobile application on Friday to facilitate door-to-door waste collection.
The app "KMC D2D Waste Collection" was launched at the Conference Hall of Kakching Municipal Council, Phousupat Leikai in the presence of KMC caretaker chairperson Naorem Sanjitkumar, senior chief executive officer Laishram Romesh, and executive engineer Naorem Ramchandra.
In his address, Sanjitkumar informed that the app is the first of its kind in the region, aimed specifically at enhancing door-to-door waste collection services.
He added that the app will primarily benefit households within the Kakching area.
According to Laishram Romesh, users will be able to register through the app and pay their waste collection fees at their convenience.
He added that the application will also aid in the creation of a comprehensive database of households and residents.
Initially, the registration process will be managed by designated fee collectors, he informed.
Technical experts from Glo-bizs Web Solutions Private Limited provided a detailed demonstration of the app's features, outlining the available functionalities for users and the roles and responsibilities assigned to municipal staff.
The event was also attended by caretaker councillors, municipal staff, sanitary workers involved in the door-to-door waste collection programme, and fee collection personnel.
