Swift justice demanded for Thokchom Rajiv's death

Imphal, May 05 2025: Singjamei Mathak Thokchom Leikai Nupi Yaipha Thourang Lup has urged authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure justice in the death of Thokchom Rajiv, who was allegedly killed on the intervening night of April 29 and 30 at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai.

Addressing the media on Monday at Manipur Press Club, Lup general secretary Thokchom Sujata, claimed that Rajiv was intentionally run over by a vehicle driven by one Khongbantabam Bishnachandra alias Tomba.

She cited CCTV footage showing Bishnachandra operating a parked vehicle and running over Rajiv, resulting in the latter's death.

Even if there was a disagreement between them, such an act is inhumane and unacceptable, Sujata said, demanding that the accused be held accountable without delay.

Rajiv and Bishnachandra were friends, she added.

Rajiv's mother, Thokchom Sorojini, also attended the press meet, along with family members and members of the local women's group.

They called on the government to treat the case with urgency and ensure that the perpetrator faces the full extent of the law.
