DC orders removal of unauthorised structures

Imphal, July 04 2025: Imphal West district administration has directed demolition of unauthorised roadside structures and encroachments in the district.

According to an order issued by Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh, the district administration has observed various incidents of unauthorised occupancy through construction of structures in the form of house extensions/shops/sheds or other structures both on permanent and temporary basis and also cases of accumulation of a significant amount of sands, stones, construction materials, waste and debris along various roads including footpaths within the district causing inconvenience to the public, obstruction to traffic creating safety hazards to the commuters, etc .

The DC - in exercise of powers conferred upon under Section 3 of Manipur Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1978, - directed the unauthorised encroachers and others concerned, whoever is applicable within the Imphal West District to remove all such structures, items and debris along the National Highways/State Highways/Inter-District Roads/ Inter-Village Roads and other roads including footpaths located in the Imphal West District latest by 3 pm of July 11 .

Anyone failing to comply shall be liable for strict penal action under the relevant Act and will lead to eviction, demolition and removal of the structures, items and debris by the district administration, district police and various line departments and the encroachers/applicable persons concerned shall bear all the cost for such removal of structures/debris, the order informed.
