DC inaugurates three anganwadi centres

In a significant step towards improving childcare and nutrition services, Jiribam deputy commissioner Krishna Kumar inaugurated newly constructed Anganwadi centres at Modhupur, Dholakhal Meitei, and Tupidhor under the Jakuradhor Sector.
Built under MGNREGS and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project, these centres are part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The centres will provide a supportive environment for children under six, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, offering supplementary nutrition, health education, immunisation, and pre-school education.
The deputy commissioner emphasised their role in bridging gaps in healthcare and education for vulnerable groups, thanking ICDS, Jiribam, for their efforts in enhancing community well-being.
Earlier, he attended the closing ceremony of a volleyball tournament at Netaji High School, Jakuradhor, organised by 48 Bn and 20 Bn CRPF under their civic action programme.
Attendees also took a pledge for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and participated in a tree-planting drive as part of the 76th Van Mahotsav.
The event was attended by Jiribam SP Semmi Ramror, additional DC Th Manoranjan Singh, SDO Laishram Tara-jeet Singh, district officials, CRPF personnel, ICDS workers , and local leaders.
