Bishnupur DC inspects district hospital

Bishnupur, June 25 2025:
Bishnupur deputy commissioner Pooja Elangbam on Wednesday inspected the District Hospital and convened a meeting with officials and medical staff to assess the hospital's functioning and discuss challenges impeding its full operational capacity.
The DC was briefed on hospital operations and existing facilities by chief medical officer Dr L Raichandra, medical superintendent Dr Kh Satyabala and other officials.
Key concerns highlighted during the meeting included staff shortages, need for an updated machine, inadequate parking space and insufficient washroom facilities.
Pooja toured various sections of the hospital including the OPD wards, operation theatre, dialysis unit and diagnostic centres.
She interacted with doctors and staff, encouraging them to continue serving the public with dedication.
She also appreciated their tireless efforts in maintaining the hospital at its best capacity.
Dr Kh Satyabala, informed that strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols is being maintained across the facility.
As a precautionary measure, the hospital has also identified a 10-bedded dedicated COVID-19 block and a testing site.
Additionally, an isolation ward has also been arranged to manage COVID cases effectively.
She further noted that with the availability of specialists across various disciplines, the hospital's treatment capacity has significantly improved.
Over the past two years, the number of surgeries performed has seen a marked increase, and the dialysis unit has been upgraded from three to six beds to meet growing patient needs.
The DC was accompanied by Bishnupur ADM T Opendro and other district level officers during the visit.
