National yoga seminar begins at MU

A two-day national seminar on the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health" organised by Manipur University (MU) Department of Yoga in connection with the upcoming International Yoga Day has been inaugurated on Thursday at the MU auditorium.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function, MU vice-chancellor professor N Lokendra highlighted that the seminar is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at covering over one lakh locations to mark International Yoga Day.
He highlighted the seminar's focus on four key objectives namely - 'Yoga for Health and Disease', 'Yoga for Global Peace', 'Yoga for Sustainability' and 'Yoga for Society'.
He expressed confidence that the seminar would generate meaningful recommendations that can be translated into actionable outcomes.
Reflecting on the importance of yoga, professor Lokendra noted that the ancient practice has gained renewed relevance, especially in states like Manipur which frequently experience crisis and report high cases of hypertension.
He underlined yoga's role in promoting both individual well-being and societal harmony.
Presided over by Yoga Department head professor T Inaobi; the function was also attended by SVYASA University, Bengaluru chancellor Dr K Subrahmanyam as a guest of honour.
