MLA Shyam bats for promotion of literature

Expressing concern over the government's indifferent attitude towards the challenges faced by writers who truly value literature, Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam pointed out the need for authorities concerned to give greater attention to the promotion and development of literature.
MLA Shyam was speaking on the occasion of the 'Ayibasingi Numit-2025' organised by Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti, Imphal at Dr Kamal Literary Complex, Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai on Thursday.
On the occasion, writer Moirangthem Rajendro was conferred the Writer of the Year (Lifetime Achievement Award) by the Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti in recognition of his significant literary contributions.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Shyam highlighted the vital role of writers in shaping and uplifting society, pointing out that literature reflects the society, its history and culture.
"The rich literary heritage of Manipur helps preserve our identity and serves as a bridge connecting our culture and traditions to both the present and future generations," he said.
Shyam also acknowledged the contributions of past generations in upholding the literary legacy of the state.
As a gesture of support, the MLA announced a yearly contribution of Rs 10,000 towards the Writer of the Year award, in dedication of his late mother, starting this year.
Reflecting on the ongoing crisis in the state, Karam Shyam stressed the importance of unity and-collective efforts to restore peace.
He stated that this is not a time for blame games but for finding a solution in the interest of the people.
