War Photographic Archive expanded

Imphal, July 17 2025:
An unveiling ceremony of the Photographic Archive expansion of the An-glo-Manipuri War (1891) along with the Nupilal Gallery and the Archaeological Fossils installation was organised by the Central Museum Department of Manipur University on Thursday.
The unveiling function held at the central museum was attended by MU vice-chancellor professor N Lokendra, department of Ancient History and Archaeology head professor O Ranjit, Department of History head professor Chungmeijai Mathew MK, Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup advisor Rajkumar Meghajit, AIR Imphal assistant director (News) Thokchom Jogendrajit and MU School of Social Sciences dean professor Memcha Loitongbam as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, professor N Lokendra noted that among the various historical events, the Nupilal of 1904 was the most epochal.
However, details about who participated in the movement and who led it remain largely unknown, said, and expressed that the newly established gallery will not only help the descendants of those who took part in the Nupilal understand what happened to their ancestors after they were imprisoned by the British and when they returned, but will also educate the present generation about how the Nupilal of 1904 unfolded and the reasons behind it.
