Prof Sumitra emphasised the need to balance AI advancement with the preservation of human values and intelligence.
She highlighted the importance of fostering an educational ecosystem where AI supports human learning, automation respects human agency, and the true spirit of learning remains grounded in curiosity, compassion, and consciousness.
In his address, Prof Rajmani emphasised that while we celebrate the advancement of Artificial Intelligence, the true purpose of education must remain in cultivating wisdom, nurturing curiosity, and shaping human character.
It is through these values, he noted, that AI can be guided to serve and uplift humanity.
In his presidential address, Dr Robindro appreciated the rapid growth of AI in making education more accessible and personalised.
He also highlighted the importance of retaining human values in learning.
AI should serve as a tool to assist teachers and empower students, but the core purpose of education - nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and human connection must always remain central, he added.
The programme was also attended by faculty members from various departments of the university, staff members, research scholars, and students of the department.
