Endangered Species' Day, sensitisation workshop held

As in other parts of the country, YK College, Wangjing Internal Quality Assurance Cell and Environment Club observed the National Endangered Species' Day on the theme 'Wildlife Conservation Finance: Investing in People & Planet' at the college's multipurpose hall on Friday.
The inaugural function of the observance was attended by College principal Prof Khundrakpam Jugindro, Department of Physics head associate professor Okram Binoykumar, Department of English head assistant professor Pukhrambam Somarendra and Environment Club convenor Dr Ningthoujam Shovarani as presidium members while Dr Haobijam Bonny Singh, Toperjeet Singh Seram and P Somarendra were the resource persons.
On the other-hand, Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram and MAHUD Department jointly organised a one-day sensitisation workshop on 'My waste, my responsibility' at the seminar hall of the college on Friday with MAHUD director Ngangom Uttam Singh as chief guest, College principal Prof H Manoranjan Sharma as president, and Manipur University College Development Council director Prof H-Shukhdeba Sharma and NSS Unit 1 programme officer L Sanatombi as guests of honour of the inauguration programme.
In his address, Ng Uttam stressed that protecting the Earth should be everyone's responsibility, and pitched for replacing single-use plastics with environment-friendly and sustainable alternatives for ensuring a healthy environment.
