Centenarian Sapam Kullabi performs at SNA Fellows & Awardees Festival

Sangeet Natal Akademi awardee and visiting guru of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Sapam Kullabi Singh recently participated in the Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) Fellows and Awardees Festival of Music & Dance held at Vijnana Bhavan Auditorium in Manasagangotri, Mysore from April 29 to May 3, 2025 .
According to a release issued by United Committee Langthabal (UCL), on May 1, Guru Sapam Kullabi, a centenarian from Langthabal Lep Awang Leikai, gave a powerful & captivating fusion performance of "Nata Sankirtana Raga, Sanchar, Tin Tal, Charital, Mel, Chanchap, etc", leaving the audience mesmerized.
Later, Dr MG Manjunath, University Registrar (evaluation) who attended the event as the chief guest honoured Sapam Kullabi with a shawl in recognition of his contribution to other Major Traditions of Music - Nata Pung.
Dr MG Manjunath also urged Sapam Kullabi for another performance in the near future.
Notably, the festival organised by the Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangai Music and Performing Arts University, Mysore under the aegis of SNA, showcased performances by recipients of the Akademi's Fellowship and Awards.
The festival featured a variety of classical and folk Indian music, dance, and drama forms, showcasing the talent and artistry of the Akademi's Fellows and Awardees.
The festival was a celebration of the Nation's highest achievements in the performing arts.
