Local bodies deliberate on TB elimination

Thoubal, December 14 2024: As part of the 100-day intensified campaign on TB elimination which was launched on December 7 to detect and treat 'missing TB cases', especially in high-risk groups, and reduce TB deaths significantly, a meeting of PR1 members and urban local bodies of Thoubal district was held at the Thoubal DC conference hall on Friday.

The meeting, chaired by DC Ahanthem Subash, discussed the importance of involving members of Zilla Parishads, Gram Panchayats and urban local bodies in the 100-day intensified campaign for TB elimination.

It also pointed out the need to provide balanced diets to TB patients during their treatment.

The meeting also resolved to offer nutritional support to TB patients undergoing six-month treatment under the Ni-KShay Mitra Scheme.

The meeting was attended by Thoubal District TB Officer Dr Shameen, District Coordinator Th Stephee, CMO Dr Y Nokul, chairpersons and members of the administrative committees of Zilla Parishads, ULB caretaker chairpersons, councillors and members of the National TB Elimination Programme.
