AR takes 500 students, teachers to Durand Cup

Assam Rifles facilitated approximately 500 students and teachers from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts to witness the football matches of the 134th edition of the prestigious Durand Cup held at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Imphal.
According to PRO IGAR (S), from July 30 to August 12, students from remote villages including Ukhrul, Tolloi, Shangshak and Chas-sad were given the opportunity to witness high-energy football matches and cultural festivities, including the grand opening ceremony on July 30.Assam Rifles provided logistical support, enabling safe and seamless travel for the youth to attend the event - many for the first time in their lives.
While not involved in the conduct of the tournament, Assam Rifles played a pivotal role in connecting young minds from far-flung regions to the vibrant world of professional sports.
The exposure to the Durand Cup ignited enthusiasm, broadened horizons and inspired many to consider sports not just as recreation but as a viable path to personal growth, discipline, and even future employment, the PRO noted.
Teachers and students expressed heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for facilitating their participation, acknowledging the force's commitment to youth development and community outreach, the PRO conveyed.
